Acorn's brain was scrambling for any answers to the incomprehensible question just posed to her.
"I'm just... some girl"
She immediately had to fight the urge to apologize for her response. Just some girl? Obviously! She almost phrased it like a question, yet it was the most pointless statement she'd probably uttered that year. She opened her mouth to try to conjure a better response on the spot, but the boy's gaze was once again fixated on something unseen on the floor just in front of him.
A moment passed.
He let out a chuckle, followed by a pained cough
"you always were a weird one, Acorn"
he looked at her pointedly, his eyes glinting behind his unkempt hair
"take this
please"
